Household Heroes
Monthly classes, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday nights
Are you a novice when it comes to household repairs and maintenance? Would you like to avoid calling a handyman when something goes wrong at home? Our Household Heroes classes are designed to provide you with instruction and the skills to fix simple household projects on your own. Expect to learn how to repair drywall, plumbing fixes, basic electrical wiring, tool usage, and more!
No Maker Playground membership required. This class is open to all regardless of skill and expertise! We will supply all necessary tools and instruction.

Become a pro at making drywall repairs of all sizes in your home. Learn the basics of patching drywall, what and how to cut materials, plaster and drywall mud, and more! All materials provided.
May 13, 2026 – Simple Electrical Wiring

Learn by completing a simple wiring project like outlets or dimmer switches using the following tools: wire cutters/strippers, screwdrivers, and receptacle testers.
June 17, 2026 – Doorknob + Lockset Installation
5:30 to 7:30 p.m. | Maker Playground | $25 residents ($37.50 non-residents)
Learn how to install doorknobs and locksets using the following tools: drills, chisels and hammers, screwdrivers, levels, and a tape measure and pencil. All materials provided.
July 15, 2026 – Cut + Install Molding

Learn how to cut and install various types of molding including crown, casing, baseboard, and stop molding.
August 12, 2026 – Toilet Trouble

In this session, learn how to fix a running or leaking toilet, install a fill valve, flush valve, and flapper, adjust the float screw, and recognize and fix common problems.
