Whether you’re a beginner or already know the drill, Maker Playground members are provided access to the playground of tools to explore and tinker. Makers from the ages of 16+ can begin creating at the Maker Playground. Memberships are based on a tiered structure.
All new members are required to view an orientation video to be provided with basic layout of the Maker Playground, rules and responsibilities as it relates to each section, and an opportunity to ask questions.
Additional training classes/modules will be provided by the Maker Playground to enhance member experience and discovery with digital fabrication, metal work, and wood working.
Monthly memberships are available to makers with little to advanced experience using machinery and tools at Maker Playground. Members will be granted access to the Maker Playground during operating hours only. All construction materials must be provided by the member. Building materials will not be permitted to be stored at the Maker Playground outside of regular operating hours. Please plan ahead for set up and tear down of your project to allow time to construct and remove materials before you depart.
Please complete any machinery training and schedule your follow up assessment with Maker Playground prior to your visit. If you're hoping to use a specific machine to complete your project, please visit our Equipment Reservation catalog once approved for additional machinery usage. Maximum rental time is 4 hours to allow other makers the use of machinery on site. See tiered access below to choose the option that best suits your needs. Members are billed monthly, and can receive a 10% discount if an annual membership is chosen. Please email us with any membership and equipment questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Orientation and training modules are required for access to the Maker Playground, prior to your use of the space. Membership is contingent on following and accepting the Maker Playground waiver and contract. Members less than 18 years of age must have a guardian sign their waiver and agree to the policy and procedure included.
Various machines require training, test, and approval of a Maker Playground administrator before new member usage. All access to machines are limited and dependent on availability. Machine access can be reserved by visiting our Equipment Reservation Catalog.
New members are also subject to a one month probationary period before full access is granted to the shop. This allows for staff to get to know new members and insure proper shop safety is being practiced. Members who neglect equipment or safety can have privileges revoked or suspended.
Monthly withdrawals from your designated banking institution will occur upon your waiver agreement being signed. You may cancel at any time, and will need to notify a Maker Playground administrator of your wish to discontinue in person. As with all Fishers Parks programs and activities, residents will receive a discount.
